In the first post of this confidence series, I shared with you the importance of confidence and how the information you access in your life affects your confidence level. If you want to be more, do more and have more, then confidence is a must. Every successful person is self-confident. Even though you may have a strong foundation based on certain life or biblical principles, in the whole scheme of things you must have confidence in those principles but also in your ability to effectively include those principles in your life to manifest success.
If you haven’t read it yet, I strongly suggest you read the first post in this series, Uncover the Number One Confidence Thief to give you a foundation and even the CONFIDENCE to follow the suggestions in this one.
I promised to share three things you can do to get your confidence back. These are things you can begin to do right away and begin seeing immediate results so let’s get to it. They are…
Attitude is likely the most important thing in gaining confidence. Attitude affects everything. How you feel about yourself and your life is MAJOR! Why? As I shared with you in Uncover the Number One Confidence Thief, information leads to confidence. If you feel like you have no hope, that you or your life isn’t worth much, or that you don’t add any value to this world, then you are for sure feeding yourself BAD INFORMATION! If you think you’re a failure, then so you’ll be one. But if you think you’ll succeed then you will succeed. Make a decision about your attitude right now. Decide to change your attitude about life right now. Even if you don’t quite understand how it will make a difference just yet, just try it anyway. What do you have to lose? Decide that you will be successful at boosting your confidence and that it’s going to cause positive changes and increase in every area of your life. You have to believe that it’s possible and let that be your new attitude BEFORE you can see actual changes manifest in your life.
When you dress well you feel better about yourself. Caring about your appearance is an indication of confidence. Confident people are always mindful of their appearance and understand how grooming and dress can attract things to your life or detract from your life. But more importantly when you take the time to concern yourself with your grooming and dress you’ll increase your confidence and it will give you a little pep in your step because you know that you look good. If you feel like you don’t have what it takes when it comes to style, then please find someone to help you because it is that important to your confidence success. Of course you don’t have to hire someone, but there may be someone in your life like a sibling, cousin, or friend whose style you’ve admired. Reach out to them and ask for help.
As I mentioned earlier, lack of confidence is rooted in fear and fear is rooted in the lack of information or having the wrong information. Affirmations help you to counteract the misinformation. You have to purposefully fill yourself with good and positive information to counteract the bad information that’s stealing your confidence. You do this by affirmations. Think about an area in your life where you lack confidence. Now think about that same area but this time think about how things WOULD be if you had the confidence. Now write a statement to affirm that new thought. Write it using positive words and in present tense AS IF that’s how or what you’re doing right now. (Ex. Self confidence is increasing my life success. Nothing is impossible and life is great.) Write it and say it daily. Say it until you experience it. Do this for all of the different areas in your life.
My challenge to you is to focus on these three areas over the next few weeks: Attitude, Appearance, and Affirmations. Put these into practice in your everyday life and then I want to hear from you about what internal or external changes you are experiencing.
